Programme
Preliminary Agenda
A conference that looks at the revenue impact from the global infrastructure, the cost impact of network optimization, and the risks and opportunities behind new and emerging network usage patterns. It's about the supply, the demand, the pricing and the profitability of the global network!
Below is the preliminary design for SubSea Communications Conference 2009, further information will be available soon upon review of input from industry experts such as yourself.
Day 1, Morning: DEMAND FOR CAPACITY
The morning topics will focus on consumer and enterprise demand. What global/regional capacity requirements are end users and business users driving?
Keynote: Visionary, futurist – where is the consumer/enterprise market headed toward bandwidth demand?
What new uses are emerging?
1. Panel: Consumer goods (FMCG) and Consumer demand drivers – New Media
A look at social networking, on-line marketing and mobile content - Information for network developers, owners and service providers on the various methods and uses of the network, as geared toward consumer focused markets
2. Panel: Enterprise requirements for bandwidth
High bandwidth intensive enterprise users, and their specific requirements from the network.
Day 1 Afternoon: PRICING, PRODUCT, ATTRIBUTES
The afternoon topics will focus on system supply, network owner and service provider response to enterprise and consumer usage requirements; how can networks adjust to provide better service, improved flexibility and greater return?
1. Panel: Carrier initiatives and response to above enterprise and consumer users – how designing service offerings tailored to above customer requirements?
2. Industry Panel: Subsea supply market response – design considerations to tailor networks to Carrier requirements?
3. Subsea network providers discussion – responses to demand and how is the industry adjusting? We work directly with the carriers, but have the enterprise and consumer oriented discussions led to any new ideas wrt applications, cable design, product offerings?
Day 2: Morning: BUSINESS MODELS AND GROWTH STRATEGIES
Day 2 morning session will consider pricing and profitability of the networks, and may include a look at comparable industry pricing models for their services. The goal is to generate ideas that will improve network profitability.
1. Keynote presentation - non industry specialist to discuss: Talent Mangement (long term succession planning)? The environment (methods of environmental impact reduction via telecoms networks)?
2. Business Models – the path to profitability – With continual pricing drops in most global routes, how does the the company building networks generate long-term return on investment?
Day 2: Afternoon: MARKET SUPPLY SESSION: New Industry Initiatives
The afternoon session will consider market supply and some of the emerging technology and design efforts that improve return on investment and increase network efficiency and flexibility.
1. Network designs for the Oil & Gas Industry
2. Network capabilities for the future: Network/Traffic optimization, intelligent applications on networks (the merging of the Layers), Backhaul optimization and alternative technologies
3. New Initiatives in cable maintenance
Day 3: Morning: Breakout Sessions
Breakout sessions will be considered in more detail - below a couple of options as brought forward to-date by industry experts:
1. Oil & Gas Sector requirements
2. Capacity Pricing Discussion – new networks, established networks
